Rhinoplasty
Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose while considering facial proportions, nasal anatomy and, breathing function. Each surgical plan is individually designed around your anatomy and the changes you would like to achieve.

Rhinoplasty surgery in Turkey
Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is surgery designed to change the shape, proportions or structure of the nose. Depending on the patient, surgery may address the bridge, nasal tip, nostrils or overall balance of the nose in relation to the rest of the face.
Rhinoplasty is highly individual. A nose that looks balanced on one face may not suit another, which is why surgical planning should consider the entire facial profile rather than focusing on one feature in isolation.
At EsteTurkey Group in Istanbul, rhinoplasty planning begins with an assessment of your nasal anatomy, facial proportions, previous procedures, breathing concerns and the changes you would like to achieve.
The aim is not to create the same nose for every patient, but to develop a surgical plan appropriate for your individual anatomy.
What can rhinoplasty improve?
Patients consider rhinoplasty for many different reasons. Some are concerned about one specific feature, while others would like to improve the overall proportion of the nose.
Depending on your anatomy, rhinoplasty may address:
- A prominent nasal bridge or dorsal hump
- Nasal width or overall size
- Tip shape, projection or definition
- A drooping or downward-pointing nasal tip
- Nasal asymmetry
- Nostril size or shape in suitable cases
- Imbalance between the nose and other facial features
- Structural concerns following previous surgery or injury
Not every requested change will be appropriate for every nose. Skin thickness, cartilage, bone structure and existing nasal anatomy all influence what can safely and realistically be achieved.
Who is a good candidate for rhinoplasty?
You may be a suitable candidate if you would like to change the shape or proportion of your nose and have realistic expectations about surgery.
Good rhinoplasty planning requires more than choosing a nose shape from a photograph. Your existing anatomy determines which changes are possible and which proportions are likely to remain balanced with the rest of your face.
General health, previous nasal surgery, medications, smoking or nicotine use and any history of breathing difficulties should also be discussed during your assessment.
For younger patients, facial growth and medical suitability also need to be considered before surgery.
Cosmetic rhinoplasty and breathing
Rhinoplasty may be performed for aesthetic reasons, functional concerns or a combination of both.
Some patients seeking cosmetic changes also report difficulty breathing through the nose. When this is the case, the internal nasal structures need to be assessed rather than treating rhinoplasty as a purely aesthetic procedure.
Aesthetic improvement should not come at the expense of nasal function.
If you experience breathing difficulties, previous nasal trauma or have been diagnosed with a structural nasal problem, tell the medical team during your initial assessment.
What is the difference between rhinoplasty and septoplasty?
Rhinoplasty and septoplasty are related but different procedures.
Rhinoplasty changes the external shape or structure of the nose and may involve both aesthetic and functional considerations.
Septoplasty focuses on the nasal septum, the internal structure dividing the two sides of the nose, when deviation contributes to functional problems such as impaired airflow.
In some patients, functional and aesthetic concerns can be addressed during the same operation. Whether this is appropriate depends on examination and individual anatomy.
How is rhinoplasty performed?
Rhinoplasty is performed under general anaesthesia.
There is no single surgical technique suitable for every patient. The approach depends on the nasal structures being treated and the changes required.
Surgery may involve reshaping bone or cartilage, modifying the nasal bridge or tip, changing projection or addressing structural issues where appropriate.
Rhinoplasty may be performed using an open or closed approach. The appropriate technique is determined by the surgeon according to your anatomy and surgical goals rather than one method automatically being better for every patient.
Open vs closed rhinoplasty
The terms “open” and “closed” rhinoplasty describe different surgical approaches.
With closed rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside the nostrils. With open rhinoplasty, an additional small incision is made across the tissue between the nostrils, allowing greater exposure of the nasal structures when required.
Both approaches have appropriate uses.
The choice should be based on the changes required, your anatomy and the surgeon's planned technique rather than choosing surgery solely because one approach sounds less invasive.
Rhinoplasty recovery: what should you expect?
Swelling is a normal and important part of rhinoplasty recovery.
During the early recovery period, swelling and bruising may be visible around the nose and sometimes around the eyes. A nasal splint may also be used during the initial stage of healing.
The most obvious swelling gradually reduces, but the nose continues to change for considerably longer. This is particularly important around the nasal tip, where residual swelling can take longer to settle.
For this reason, an early postoperative appearance should never be interpreted as the final rhinoplasty result.
Your surgeon will provide instructions regarding sleeping position, physical activity, glasses, nose care and other restrictions during recovery.
When will I see my final rhinoplasty result?
You will see changes when the initial splint and dressings are removed, but this is not the final result.
Rhinoplasty healing is gradual. While much of the visible swelling improves during the first weeks and months, subtle swelling can remain for considerably longer, particularly at the nasal tip.
The nose continues to refine as tissues heal.
For many patients, the result continues to evolve for up to a year or longer, depending on the extent of surgery, skin thickness and individual healing.
Patience is an important part of rhinoplasty recovery.
Your rhinoplasty journey in Istanbul
Your treatment begins with an in-person consultation and pre-operative tests after you arrive in Istanbul.
During your consultation, the surgeon examines your nose, facial proportions and relevant medical history and confirms the surgical plan with you.
Surgery is normally performed the following day.
After surgery, your early recovery is monitored before you continue recovering at your hotel. Our team coordinates your postoperative care and scheduled follow-upRhinoplasty before and after
Before-and-after photographs are useful for understanding a surgeon's approach to nasal proportions, but another patient's result should never be treated as a template for your own nose.
When reviewing rhinoplasty results, look at patients with similar starting concerns and consider the timing of the postoperative photograph.
Early photographs can still show considerable swelling, particularly around the tip.
Your final result depends on your starting anatomy, skin thickness, surgical plan and individual healing. appointments before you return home.

Will my rhinoplasty look natural?
A natural rhinoplasty result should work with the rest of the face rather than drawing attention to the fact that the nose has been operated on.
This is why planning involves more than simply making the nose smaller.
The relationship between the bridge, tip, nostrils, chin and overall facial profile needs to be considered. Your existing bone, cartilage and skin also determine which changes can realistically be achieved.
During your consultation, you can discuss the features that bother you and the surgeon can explain which changes may be appropriate for your anatomy.
Will I have a scar after rhinoplasty?
Scar placement depends on whether an open or closed surgical approach is used.
Closed rhinoplasty uses incisions inside the nostrils and therefore does not create an external incision of the same type.
Open rhinoplasty includes a small external incision between the nostrils in addition to internal incisions.
When an external incision is required, its appearance changes as healing progresses. Scar healing varies between individuals, and no surgical scar can be guaranteed to become completely invisible.
What is revision rhinoplasty?
Revision rhinoplasty is surgery performed on a nose that has previously undergone rhinoplasty.
It can be considered when there are remaining aesthetic concerns, structural problems or functional issues following previous surgery.
Revision cases can be more complex because the anatomy has already been altered and scar tissue may be present. For this reason, previous operation details and current photographs are particularly important during assessment.
Revision rhinoplasty should be considered separately from primary rhinoplasty and requires an individual surgical evaluation.
How much does rhinoplasty cost in Turkey?
The cost of rhinoplasty in Turkey varies according to the complexity of surgery and your individual treatment plan.
Primary rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty and surgery involving additional functional correction do not necessarily involve the same surgical requirements.
At EsteTurkey Group, your photographs and medical information are reviewed before an individual recommendation and quotation are provided.
Your quotation will clearly explain the proposed procedure and what is included in your treatment package.
